Finishing the Test

You'll arrive back in the test centre car park to finish the practical test. Your examiner will either congratulate you on passing or explain the reasons why you have failed. A pass certificate or statement of failure will be given to you.

The Pass Certificate

The pass certicate needs to be sent along with your provisional licence photocard, counterpart and with the correct fee to:
DVLA
Swansea
SA99 1BJ

A new full driving licence will be sent back to you; usually within a few weeks.

Important:

A pass certificate needs to be exchanged with 2 years of passing the practical test otherwise it becomes invalid and you will have to carry out both the theory and practical test again!

A Statement of Failure

The "statement of failure" form will have been marked by the examiner using: '\', 'X', 'D', or 'XX'.

If you fail, you'll also receive another application form to reapply for the practical test.

Debriefing

You will be given the option of a debriefing by the examiner, if you've failed explaining the reasons why. You can include your driving instructor in an the debriefing to listen to what he examiner has to say. Debriefing can be used as a good way of targeting driving skills and techniques, which need more practice to pass the practical test.
