Getting Started: D1 & D750 Forms

Introduction

Getting started can be a little tricky but don't worry Upgear can help you get through it. Learning to drive can be extremely enjoyable and the benefits afterwards are tremendous, so sit back and let Upgear help you through it!

The initial steps to applying for a provisional licence (cars)

Once you have decided that you want to learn how to drive, your first step is:

To go to your local Post office and pick up a D1 (1st application for a license) and a D750 (application for a photo license). Both forms provide plenty of information on how to fill them in. After you have filled them in, send them off and in a few weeks your provisional licence should come through the post.

The second step is:

To search for a school that is local to you; an easy, hassle-free way of doing this is to use Upgear directory. You can search for the most local driving school in your area that is available in our database.

The third and final stage is:

To take a look into theory/hazard test, basic maintenance and practical test so that it gives you a general idea of :

  1. the costs involved and;
  2. what learning you will need to do for the theory and practical tests.

Once you have completed these three simple steps you can begin learning how to drive!
