Before You Buy a Car

It's a fantastic feeling when you are ready to buy a car, all these lessons and hard work has paid off and finally you've reached the time to "hit the road". So lets get organised; here's what you need to think about and get prepared before you buy 'your' car; you will need a valid vehicle excise duty disc (tax), an MOT Certificate (only if its 3yrs old or over) and valid Insurance certificate which covers al least 3rd Party liability.

New & Used Cars

Cars are expensive, so it's essential that you decide what your budget is and stick to it! You can either buy a new car or a used car both have their own benefits and draw backs. You need to choose which route you want to take.

Buying a New Car.

If you were to buy a brand new car:-

The benefits are:

You'll receive a manufacturer warranty
You can specify what you want - colour, trim, wheels, etc.

The draw backs are:

The price normally is a lot higher than a used car.
You may have to wait a long time for delivery of your specified car.

Buying a Used Car:

If you think that your budget may not cover a brand new car a used car is the other option available to you:

The benefits are:

Used cars can be much cheaper than new ones.
You may be able to 'bargain' with the seller (owner) of the car and save even more money.

The draw backs are:

You can't add specific details to the car e.g. colour, trim, wheels etc.
There is may be no manufacturer's guarantee.

Which ever option you choose ('new' or 'used' car) for complete satisfaction and contentment, do your research. If you intend to buy a new car take ranges available within your specific model range and choose a model which suits you the best, a "good rule of thumb" could be to choose one which states your personality. Let's face it everyone would like to travel in style in a car which gives a statement about themselves.

If you're intending to buy a used car however, you still need to look around for the car that is right for you. Make a choice what model / make you may want and research it in the local Chad, internet, car selling magazines etc, until you find some that interests you then go and check them out. It's the only way to know if that car is for you. Keep your options open, look around.
